Greetings from Make Create Innovate!
We hope your new year is off to a flying start and wish you all the best in your upcoming projects. This is our first quarterly e-newsletter of 2017 when we will share some highlights from our recent activities and let you know about upcoming events and training with us.

Here is a sample of what’s coming up in 2017:
Ultrasonic Ancients at The Chester Beatty Library
Places Still Available! For the February Mid-Term Break, we return to The Chester Beatty Museum to introduce young people to sensor-based technology using Arduino. Drawing on the Egyptian collection, we will incorporate activities from our recent Maker Residency. Places are still available for 15-17 years olds at 2.15-4.30pm on Thursday 23rd February. Technology for Teens at The Digital Hub
From February, we will host monthly hands-on technology workshops for 13-17 years at The Digital Hub, Dublin 8.  These will include building a mini speaker for your mobile phone, LED displays, wearable tech and lots more! A Maker Approach to Art and Interactivity for Artists, Makers and Educators
Due to popular demand, we will deliver two more of our workshops for artists, makers and educators in April and November 2017. This hands-on, jargon-free workshop will introduce you to physical computing and show you how to develop and realise projects with interactive elements. Highlights from 2016
Our recent review of 2016 revealed a very busy year full to the brim of learning, fun and some adventure around Ireland and beyond!
DesignFest Clonmel
We brought our touring educational installation ‘Lonsdale’s Lab’ to south Tipperary for DesignFest 2016 for the design trail in November. It was a fun evening of STEAM demonstrations and some hands-on technology tasters for all ages.
We were delighted to receive an invitation to exhibit our educational programme and tools at Féilte 2016.  We also presented on our inquiry-based learning approach and met many inspiring educators. ‘Lonsdales Lab’ provided an interactive showcase of our STEAM education programme.
Creative Museums Residency
We were delighted to be selected as the 2016 Creative Museums makers-in-residence based at 127º Fab Lab, CAP Sciences Museum in Bordeaux. Over a 10 day period we met local artists and makers, delivered hands on workshops in sensor-based technology to school students and families and honed our skills in laser cutting, vinyl cutting and 3D printing. We produced several new sensor-operated creations for our touring installation ‘Lonsdales Lab’ and ate a lot of delicious French bread!
The Power in Your Pencil
For National Drawing Day 2016, we hosted two workshops for The Butler Gallery, Kilkenny involving drawing with technology.  Participants of all ages made wonderful ‘automatic’ drawings with Scribblebots they built themselves. They also designed unique game controllers to conduct electricity using the graphite from their pencils!
Exchange with The Chester Beatty Library
Throughout 2016, we enjoyed working in different ways with the fabulous team in The Chester Beatty Library Education Dept. We delivered hands-on workshops for young people, participated in a short video about the Creative Museums Programme and facilitated a workshop and skills exchange with innovative individuals who incorporate STEAM into their artistic, technology and educational practices.
